The German Shepherd Dog Club of Pakistan (GSDCP) is thrilled to announce a series of new guidelines and standards for the upcoming 2024-25 show season. After an in-depth review by the National Breed Council, these adjustments aim to bring consistency, honor the unique attributes of the German Shepherd breed, and further align our processes with global practices. All changes outlined below will be effective until October 2027.
Key Highlights of the New Show Season Rules
1. Relaxation on IGP Requirements
IGP implementation has been temporarily relaxed while we work to establish an approved local training program. This flexibility ensures that all dogs participating in shows are assessed fairly and given equal opportunities in the absence of an IGP certification.
2. New Adult Class Structure
Class structure adjustments have been introduced to better accommodate dogs across age groups. The Working and Open Classes will be discontinued, and a new **Adult Class** has been created exclusively for dogs aged 2 years and above.
3. Updated Grading Criteria for VA (PK) in Sieger Shows
To uphold the prestige of the VA (PK) grading, a high honor in the Sieger Shows, the following criteria are now required:
- Dogs must anatomically qualify for a VA Grading
- Dogs must have undergone Breed Survey
- They must pass Bite-Work assessments
- They must carry Pink Papers with DNA and Hip Dysplasia/Elbow Dysplasia (HD/ED) clearances.
4. Revised V (PK) Grading Criteria for Sieger & OG/LG Shows
To qualify for the V (PK) grading in Sieger and OG/LG shows, dogs must meet these standards:
- They should anatomically qualify for a V grading.
- Dogs over 3 years must have a Breed Survey, DNA and HD/ED clearances.
5. Introduction of a Points System
A Points System will be introduced in the 2024-25 show season. This system will add a competitive edge, rewarding dogs that consistently perform well. Points will be allocated based on placements in each class. For example; If a dog places 1st in a class of 9 dogs, it will receive 9 points. A 2nd place in the same class will earn 8 points, 3rd place 7 points, and so on.
Points are cumulative for all classes, from Minor Puppy to Adult.
6. The President’s Dog of the Season Award
To celebrate the top-performing German Shepherd, GSDCP is proud to introduce the President’s Dog of the Season trophy. This prestigious award will be granted to the dog that accumulates the highest number of points throughout the show season, making it a true testament to excellence and dedication.
Preparing for the Upcoming Show Season
These exciting new guidelines reinforce GSDCP's commitment to promoting the German Shepherd breed in Pakistan. We invite all participants to familiarize themselves with these updates and ensure their dogs meet the eligibility criteria. Let’s work together to make this show season a memorable one!
